Thank you for this follow up. It really helps to read your examples. Thanks for sharing them.
So, yeah, #3 - you never, ever wanted to make your bed. And true story, I only started making my bed after you were born so I could set a good example for YOU! 😂😂😂 There were many things that became priorities once you were in the picture…seasons of life. So yeah, thanks for getting me to make MY bed, and quit smoking, and all the 100 better habits I created once you arrived!
I am so glad this resonated, and LOVE that you've already been thinking this way! Thanks for sharing your work -- you were ahead of the curve!
The actual implementation is hard -- even when you have a 'process' to follow, I still struggle. I am writing an (initially unplanned) part 3, because sticking to it and figuring out how to make it work as life adapts is so tricky!
I look forward to it and yes, I see that a routine has to change all the time and that is one more thing that I always struggled with when trying to build the perfect one!
I love the way you broke down this approach to making time for things that are most important to us in the era we're in. It's freeing to be reminded that these priorities can/should change over time, too!
Yes! It doesn't always have to look the same (and probably shouldn't). We change, our priorities change, and trying to figure out where they meet is where the magic happens✨
I've been having a lot of conversations recently about how I think consistency as it relates to routines and creating is a bit of a myth. Or maybe the idea that if you really want something you have to do it everyday to count as consistent, so this was perfectly timed reading for me. Doing a little bit of something everyday can still be consistent just as much as doing the thing once a week or once a month can be too.
I love the reframing of 'what does consistent mean' -- that's great. a DAY is such a small unit of time, it feels freeing to be like "i did something 2x this week, or month, and that is consistent and awesome"
That was a great point about your writing goals being more tied to output than what they’re doing for you internally. I’m very goal focused and can get lost in the external—this was the kind of “duh!” Moment wake up call I needed!

I knew I could rely on you to read the footnotes 😂😂😂
Always!!!! ❤️❣️❤️
I resonated so much with both your articles especially as me, as someone who has nothing to do with product management, wrote this article years ago:
How to Rock an ‘MVP Attitude’ in Lifehttps://medium.com/the-mission/how-to-rock-an-mvp-attitude-in-life-e76298aacd4e
But I am still learning to actually implement this in my life.
In fact your article wants me to have a casual chat with you or collaborate in a more serious manner!

It honestly was for me too! Glad it resonated - it’s so easy to get lost in those mile markers of what we “should do”.
brilliant, love this approach.
Thanks Jody!! Glad to hear it’s resonating 😊
