rather, i am stubborn

national poetry writing month 2025, day 2

i didn't like what i found
so i will have to chart my own path
not out of necessity or desire
rather, i am stubborn

it's easier to say 'ok,'
to go along
to not care

somewhere along the way i guess i decided i don't like easy
i decided i care
and that feels unfortunate and fortunate
simultaneously.
